CPU’s Research Scholar extracts medicine for Migraine from Ayurvedic Herbs

CPU has awarded Ph.D Degree for successful completion of the research

 Career Point University’s Ph.D student Mr. Preenon Bagchi has accomplished his research to discover the drug from Ayurvedic herbs. The topic of his research was “Finding Effective Ligands for Migraine (An REM Disorder) Receptor Protein”. CPU has awarded the Ph.D degree to him and he has submitted the copy of his thesis to Chancellor of the University, Mr. Pramod Maheshwari. He has completed his research under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Somshekhar, one of the scientists in the field of Biotechnology also associated with Azyme Biosciences (P) Ltd, Bangalore. Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India has appreciated his work and granted scholarship of Rs 18.2 lacs for post doctorate. Preenon Bagchi has published more than 50 papers in International Journal out of which 5 were related to the topic of his research – Migraine. He has taken part in international conference at Bangkok – Thailand and presented his paper on “Identification of Novel Drug lead to NMDA receptor implicated in Schizophrenia from Indian traditional herb”.

On this occasion, Chancellor of CPU Mr. Pramod Maheshwari said that, the vision of the University is to inculcate such skills in the students so that they excel in the field of Research, Entrepreneurship and in Corporate World. The goal is to set new benchmarks in higher education so that Kota’s name can be established on global map in formal education as well

What is Migraine?

Migraine is a chronic neurological disorder characterized by headaches along with several physiological and automated nervous system symptoms. Research suggests that migraine is a result of multi-gene mutation in combination with psycho-social and environmental factors.

 Cause of Migraine?

Mutated mammalian serotonin hydroxytrptamine receptor 2 (HTR 2) implicated as a factor causing migraine were retrieved from the National Centre for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), its 3 D structure were determined by homology modeling.

CPU,Kota organised Job Fair ‘AVSAR’ 2017.

Career Point University, Kota organised a 2-day Job Fair ‘AVSAR’ for Science and Engineering students on 26th-27th May, 2017. The aim of job fair is to provide the students with the utmost opportunities to flourish in their careers. Day one of AVSAR was full of enthusiasm. The pool campus drive started at 10 AM and ended at 5.30 PM. Companies like Just Dial, Livpure, Gettech Softwares and Maintec Technologies visited for pool campus and conducted interviews.More than 300 students participated in pool campus drive where students from CPU and other colleges/universities also took part. The companies carried out interviews for Network Analyst, Product Engineer, JAVA/PHP/Android Developer, SEO Executive and R&D Engineer. The selection process included GDs and 2-3 rounds of interviews by the selection panel.The companies are offering annual packages from 2.50 lacs to 7.20 lacs. The other remaining 5 companies will visit the campus on 27th May. The students showed keen interest on day one of the job fair.

This membership entails the university’s faculties and students to avail a number of fellowships in the fields of science, technology, engineering, management, agriculture, education, health & allied sciences and others.
Mr. Pramod Maheswari, Chancellor of the university said that – “ the quality curriculum, teaching and academic processes have enabled the university to achieve this prestigious membership and would help us to expand our outreach to top ranked universities of the Commonwealth countries through academic co-operation, collaborative research, exchange of faculty and students in the areas of science and technology. CPU inks MOU with IIT Mumbai

Career Point University, Kota has signed up an MOU with IIT Mumbai to provide advanced technical and industry relevant education to students of various streams under Spoken Tutorial Program. Spoken Tutorial  Program is about teaching and learning a particular FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) like Linux, Scilab, LaTeX, PHP & MySQL, Java, C/C++, LibreOffice etc. via an easy Video tool – Spoken Tutorials. These tutorials are not only for technical or engineering streams but also available for the students of B.Pharma, Health Science, Agriculture, Commerce and Management as well.

Through this advanced e-learning program students will acquaint knowledge about cutting edge technologies, industry relevant information and new research to update their knowledge as per current trends. This program will be available free of cost to all CPU students from the current session. All enrolled students will get user name and password to access the tutorials as per their requirements. On the occasion Chancellor of the University, Mr. Pramod Maheshwari said that these collaborations are required for students to provide updated industry relevant curriculum at right time by experienced faculty team.

CPU Students Develop A Hybrid Economic Multi Tasking Vehicle

A group of final year Mechanical Engineering students have developed an economic transport vehicle which would benefit farmers and traders of small towns and villages .The engine is capable of developing a maximum of 10BHP and it can operate either on battery or petrol.The battery when fully charged is sufficient to cover 80 kilometer and the maximum speed it can attain is 40 KMPH and the fuel efficiency is 45 Km per litre and it can carry a maximum load of 2 tonnes. The cost of transporting goods by this vehicle approximately is Rs. 1.40 per Km per Kg. The multi tasking vehicle besides transporting goods is also designed for performing tasks such as crop and fodder threshing,operating pumps for irrigation and operate AC generators etc.It costed Rs. 1.20 lakh to develop this vehicle and the project was wholly funded by the university. Mr. Alok Kumar, project leader and a student of final year Mechanical engineering said that the hybrid vehicle is a boom to the small farmers and traders of villages and small towns and its benefits them to reduce the transport cost of their agriculture produce and goods to the markets. The university is planning to apply for a patent and encourage its students to go for start up units to manufacture these values. Ms. Nikita jain, Head of Mechanical Engineering who specializes in Solar Energy is planning to modify the vehicle to operate by Solar Energy.

CPU Starts Spoken Tutorial in association with IIT Bombay

Students of the University will be able to have access to the latest content of IIT Bombay online.
Vice Chancellor Dr. DN Rao said that CPU in association with IIT Bombay has launched online e-learning program for the students where students at CPU can access latest study material, research papers, journals and lab contents of IIT Bombay. It will help them understand subject more deeply apart from their syllabus.
He added that it will also help students at Kota to develop themselves according to latest trends of industry and can have extra edge over students of other colleges and It will make them more job ready than others.

CPU Students Shown “Innovation in Science & Technology”

Career Point University, Kota organized a 2-day Science Exhibition for Science and Engineering students on 5th-6th May, 2017. The theme was “Innovations in science & technology”.

239 working models were presented by the students of various departments of the university. The projects were evaluated on the basis of innovation, social impact, cost effectiveness and patent-ability. Based on these criteria, five projects have been awarded the most outstanding projects. These projects were All Terrain Vehicle (ATV), CNC Plotter, Solar Powered Seeding and Tilling Farming Equipment, DTMF based Load Control System, Green Building Material and Concrete and Wireless Mopping System.

While inaugurating the Exhibition, Dr. D.N. Rao, Vice-Chancellor said that “the university conducts science exhibition twice a year to promote innovation and research culture among its students besides giving an opportunity to develop practical skills”.

The main coordinator of the Science Exhibition Mr. Ravindra Meena and Mr. Aditya Mishra thanked all the participating teams for making the event a grand success.

Creating an effective Students Development Program in association with The Institute of Cost Accountants of India, Career Point University Kota has organized an Executive pattern seminar for the 10+2 std. and graduating students on Certificate Course in Accounting Technician (CAT). The prime objective is to organize this executive seminar to develop the career opportunities for 10+2 std and other graduate programs students in commerce applications. There are huge requirement of Certified Accounting Technicians apart from the traditional Chartered and Cost Accountants. This seminar was very responsive for the participant students for enrolling as “Certified Accounting Technicians” after receiving the motivating and learning messages from the eminent speakers of ICAI Central Council Chairman, Chairman of Madurai Chapter, Asstt. Director of Northern region and Vice Chairman of Kota chapter followed by the Rajasthan State level coordinator.

 

 

Dr. I. Ashok, took the lead role by motivating speech on the career prospective view of this new course. CMA R. K. Jain explained the students about the eligibility and merits of this new certificate course. CMA S. Kumararajan has also motivated the students regarding the global employment opportunities being a senior member of ICAI. Ms. Neha Rani being the Rajasthan state coordinator explained the significant values of the new certificate course even in this competitive scenario. Finally, CMA Satyaban Sharma also explained the importance of this new certificate course being an experienced member of ICAI, Kota chapter.

Finally, it was an excellent drive by the School of Commerce and Management department of Career Point University for creating more job awareness for the students of Commerce and other disciplines.
